Ordering a cake can be very quick, easy and done simply over the phone or by email.

Or we can spend time looking at options together with personal consultations.
The choice is yours! Orders may be placed several weeks ahead. A minimum of 2 weeks notice is preferred. Wedding cakes may require most time (3-4 months minimum is ideal) especially if home made rich fruit are to be made and matured. However, cakes can often be produced at short notice depending on my workload.

10 STEPS TO ORDER YOUR BESPOKE CAKE
STEP 1 Please tell me the following:

Your name, address and contact details.

Day and date required.
-
Male, female, age, occasion, number of people, venue.

Interests, hobbies, occupation etc as relevant.

An idea of your budget – under £30, £30-£40, £40-50, £50-£60, £60-£100…… !
(Wedding cakes and other very large cakes would be more expensive usually, depending on your requirements. Prices vary with size and decoration because of the amount of work involved. An average simple 3 tier starts around £200 yet smaller cakes are available. Tell me how much you want to pay.)
STEP 2 Type of style

Madeira – a quality sponge.

Chocolate – a rich moist cake.

Carrot – with a hint of ginger and walnuts.

Rich fruit – containing nuts and laced with brandy or without if preferred.

Choice of your own.
STEP 4 Choice of fillings
STEP 5 Choice of coatings

Sugarpaste – rolled out icing.
-
Marzipan – almond flavoured paste rolled out, which may be coloured.

Marzipan and sugarpaste.

Marzipan and Chocolate – Dark, milk or white Belgium Couveture (chocolate melted in a sauce then either poured over for a smooth finish or spread for a textured finish then set).

Chocolate – Dark, milk or white.
STEP 6 Choice of decorations – mostly made from sugar, marzipan or modelling chocolate.
STEP 7 Other details which you may want to discuss or leave to me.

Colours, candles, ribbons, cords, wires, feathers,fur,gems,beads etc

Size, shape, number of cakes, assembly.

Writing – name (correct spelling!), age, message.

Wedding and other large cakes will need extra planning.
STEP 8 Cake sizes and portion numbers.

An 8” or 10” cake is usually suitable for a small celebration.
-
Larger occasions are usually based on allowing a 1” finger of cake or a 2”.
-
6” cakes will give 30 x 1” or 15 x 2”
-
8” cakes will give 50 x 1” or 25 x 2”
-
10” cakes will give 80 x 1” or 40 x 2”
-
12” cakes will give 120 x 1” or 60 x 2”

You receive a written quotations with design details for you to check.

You will know the exact cost which will remain the same so long as no changes are made. If you want any alterations or the price is not right we can make some adjustments. Anything you want just ask!
STEP 10 Confirmation of order.
